With winter fast approaching its time to think about which winter event you will be entering for early next year.  The 34th Winter Marathon has just opened its entry list for the three-day event based in the ski resort of Madonna di Campiglio in the Italian Dolomites.  This event is unique in that it includes a race on the frozen lake in the town.  It runs next year on 20-23 January.

Organisers have announced a new, 500km route in the Trentino-Alto Adige and Dolomites, with 65 tests and regularities, starting on Thursday night, with a full day of rallying on Saturday and ice racing on Sunday.  For cars up to 1968, with some exceptions by special request for cars up to ’76, this event has remained a favourite for many drivers of pre-war cars.  There are discounts for those who enter early.  See www.wintermarathon.it for entries.
