Simon Diffey Heritage Motorsport Apprentice Award

Many of you will have seen on social media that the late Simon Diffey’s wife Sarah has created the Heritage Motorsport Apprentice Award in her husband’s memory.  Sarah has created a sticker and a donations page.

The objective of the award is to continue in perpetuity a legacy of Simon’s in recognising and encouraging the next generation of young Heritage Apprentice Engineers through opportunity.  It will be awarded to a young individual, identified by a panel of judges, for demonstrating talent in engineering, passion, enthusiasm, and exceptional commitment as a team player during their apprenticeship.

The Award:  

 • To live and work for one month with a famous Heritage Motorsport race team

 • A £3,000 grant to cover the cost of accommodation, travel and subsistence during their secondment

 • Secondment to include at least one international Historic Motorsport event

 • Plus, an opportunity to obtain ARDS race license

The Award will be made a year in advance to be taken the following summer

The 2022 Award will be a secondment to join Classic Team Lotus for one month during the Summer 2023 race season.
