A 1935 Duesenberg SJ originally owned by the Maharaja of Indore, with bodywork by Gurney Nutting, won the Best of Show award at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2023. Now organised by BMW in collaboration with the famous Hotel Villa d’Este in Cernobbio on Lake Como, this year on 19- 21 May, the event is considered one of the most prestigious on the concours circuit. Helmut Käs, head of the BMW Group Classic and president of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este presented the award to the American collector William Lyon. 50 cars divided into eight classes took part with a special award going for the best engine sound, which was chosen by the tenor Jonas Kaufmann. The Trophy ‘Il Canto del Engine’ was won by Christophe d’Ansembourg from Belgium as a tribute to the sound of his 1970 Porsche 917 K
