The ADAC 1000 km race on the Nürburgring was one of the most emotional races on the longest and most beautiful racetrack in the world when it was first held in 1953. In 2021, the ADAC 1000 km race was revived, incorporating the Grand Prix track and the legendary Nordschleife, the race was relaunched for young and classic cars. No index of performance, no prescribed minimum pit stop times – limits are only set by safety-related issues. It is not the sheer engine power that decides, but a combination of driving skill, engine, tyres and brakes and teamwork in the pits.

The ADAC 1000km counts as a regular round of the Youngtimer Trophy, “but what we would really love is to have more foreign teams joining this particular party,” says organiser Stefan Eckhardt. “For an entry fee that doesn’t much exceed the equivalent in touristenfahrten you get to do 40 consecutive laps on this legendary racetrack.”

Dates are 20-22 September. For more information see https://1000kmnuerburgring.de.
