The VSCC Spring Start meeting at Silverstone on 20-21 April celebrated the 50th anniversary of James Hunt’s debut win for the Hesketh team in the International Trophy on 7 April,1974.  This also coincides with the recent publication of the official Hesketh team history, ‘Superbears The Story of Hesketh Racing’ published by Porter Press.  Present were Lord Hesketh along with members of the team, the whole affair was organised by Valentine Lindsay, while the actual car, chassis no 308/1, which currently belongs to James Hagan, was there and was spiritedly demonstrated by Callum Grant, who seemed to greatly enjoy the experience!

‘Le Patron’ was joined by Hesketh Racing team manager Bubbles Horsley, plus mechanic Dave Sims, draughtsman Graham Humphrys, fabricator Nigel Rackett, engineer Nigel Stroud, and designer Frank Dernie. Lord Hesketh was able to share the occasion with his children and grandchildren, and the family of the late Jon Fisher – Hesketh Racing’s stores manager – were also there.
