Catalans David Garrigolas and Jordi Boix (VW Golf GTI) won the October 24-27 XXI Rally Costa Brava Històric, a particularly challenging edition due to unpredictable weather and intense competition amongst the more than 100 teams. In fact, until the very last of the 26 regularity stages and nearly 1,000 kilometres, the outcome remained undecided. Finishing just 25 points behind the winners, equivalent to a mere 25 seconds after nearly 500 kilometres of regularity and over 1,200 secret controls, were Kini Muntada and Jan Rosa (Porsche 911 Carrera), a team with an impressive international career. Tere Armadans and Anna Vives (Porsche 911) completed the podium, the pair being the first all-female team classified.
This year’s event was hosted in Empuriabrava and Palamós, the first time these two locations shared hosting duties, enhancing community engagement. The rally featured significant international participation, with 30% of teams from abroad and a notable presence of female competitors.
Joge Villasan and Eduardo Gálvez were Youngtimer winners at the wheel of their VW Golf GTI MK2, while a dominating performance gave motorcycle victory to four-time winners Carles Fortuny and Carles Jiménez, who, riding a Honda XT600, finished in the top ten overall.
