Organisers of the annual event on the sunny (usually) Mediterranean island of Mallorca have reported strong entries from teams of eight different nationalities in the first weeks since entries opened. Although the registra- tion period for the event is open until February 23, organisers say there are very few places left, and they will probably be forced to close the entries earlier for the 6-8 March event. They encourage anyone who want to participate to register at www.rallyislamallorca.com.

The three-day event runs over more than 500kms of which 170kms are on 14 closed road stages, some of which run over the sinuous Serra de Tramuntana mountains that form the backbone of the island. With three separate categories, for cars up to ’81, 90 and 98, there is also a regularity category for cars up to 1992.
