According to the latest bulletin from logistic company special- ising in the transport of high value and historic vehicles CARS Worldwide following their review of the recent US Supreme Court ruling concerning IEEPA-based tariffs and the Presidential Proclamation issued under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, the impact on automotive imports will be negligible.
“At this time, there is no immediate impact to imported motor vehicles. Firstly, automobiles were not subject to the IEEPA-based tariffs that have now been rescinded. Accordingly, the removal of those tariffs does not change the current duty treatment for vehicles.
Secondly, the newly announced 10% ad valorem surcharge under Section 122 does not apply to automobiles. As a result, this temporary import surcharge does not affect motor vehicle imports. All existing trade measures that were previously applicable (including any Section 232, Section 301, or other duties where relevant) remain unchanged.
We will continue monitoring any additional guidance from US Customs and Border Protection or further executive action and will promptly advise if circumstances change,” the bulletin stated.
New: Effective from February 6, 2026, refunds will only be issued to active ACH refund accounts. Without an active account all refunds will be marked as “rejected”. To receive any future CBP refunds – including potential refunds related to IEEPA duties – all importers must create an account in CBP’s Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) portal and enrol in ACH refunds.
