Building on the successful Super Touring Power events at Brands Hatch, Touring Car Rewind: North made its debut at Oulton Park on Saturday 16 May, bringing a full day of tin-top action to the Cheshire circuit. Jointly promoted by the British Automobile Racing Club, the Classic Touring Car Racing Club and circuit owner MotorSport Vision, the one-day meeting set out to transport fans back to the heyday of Super Touring while also showcasing the breadth of historic saloon and hatchback racing in the UK.

Running on the International layout, the event assembled a busy timetable of CTCRC races and demonstrations, complemented by off-track displays, paddock access and period-inspired activities that gave the day a festival feel in springlike, on again-off-again, weather conditions. For many spectators the main draw was the presence of genuine and replica 1990s Super Touring machinery, but there were also classic Minis, Lotus Cortinas, Group 1 and Group A saloons and later hot hatchbacks so that every era of British tin-top competition was represented on track at some point in the programme.

The Classic Touring Car Racing Club provided the backbone of the racing schedule, the races acting as regular championship rounds. The Super Touring element was promoted as the headline attraction and produced a selected field of period-correct machinery – including cars associated with British Touring Car Championship royalty. These took part in dedicated sessions that functioned as both high-speed demonstrations and, in the case of the “shoot-out”, as a time-attack style competition.
