The Alfa Revival Cup

A new feature of the Alfa Revival cup this year will be the introduction of two distinct Championship categories. At the end of the five-race season, two Champions will be crowned, one for Period E and F cars and one for the later G, H, I cars. When this series began in 2012, it regularly attracted a full class of Giuliettas, TIs, Juniors and 1600 GTAs, but like many grids, the tendency in recent years is for more than half the grid to consist of the fastest GTAm variants. Founder of the series and original organiser Tomaso Gelmini followed a policy of class points to determine the Champion with no extra points for an overall win, and it happened that in some years, the title would go the driver of a smaller capacity car.

Now organisers Canossa are hoping to welcome some of the earlier and smaller, but no less historically important, not to mention fun to drive, cars back onto the grid, where they can compete for an overall win. To be eligible for the Championship, drivers must enter at least three of the five rounds, with discounts available for season entries and entrants under the age of 30.

Races are scheduled for Mugello 18-19 April; the newly homologated 5.2km Circuito Tazio Nuvolari near Pavia, roughly equidistant between Milano and Genoa 13-14 June; Vallelunga 18-19 July; Spa 25-26 September, with the finale at Misano on 7-8 November. The Italian rounds will run alongside the Italian Historic Championships. Entries are open at alfarevivalcup.com.
