In winning the HMRN Pre-’63 GT race at Silverstone last year, John and Gary Pearson, also won the prestigious Royal Automobile Club Historic Tourist Trophy. The RAC not only celebrates this on the podium on the day, but also at an annual lunch where the TT winners are guests of honour. Other guests of honour include the winners of the Goodwood TT Celebration race, this year Richard Kent and Tony Ingram. Unfortunantely Gary, who won the Trophy once before with Jackie Oliver in a SWB Ferrari, could not be there to collect his award in person, but brother John collected it for him and, with originators of the pre-63 GT series Ben Cussons and Carol Spagg, posed with the original 105-year- old TT Trophy – the oldest continuously competed-for trophy in the world – and its Historic counterpart, with Henry Segrave looking on.
