It seems as if Concours events have crossed the Atlantic and become a real thing in Europe, with new ones popping up everywhere. The latest one to be announced, and it should be a good one if the quality of their other events is anything to go by, is from the Royal Automobile Club, which will take place on 9 July at the Club’s Woodcote Park Clubhouse one day before the start of the Goodwood Festival of Speed that takes place just 30 minutes away.
Not just another concours, the event will feature themed displays at the 350-acre Surrey estate that include 75 years of Formula 1 and BRM and 120 years of the Royal Automobile Club’s Tourist Trophy. There will be a display celebrating 100 years of the Rolls-Royce Phantom, and another for 125 years since the Club’s ground-breaking 1000-Mile Trial took place. There will also be vendors selling luxury goods and dealers selling old and new cars. Jeremy Vaughan of the RAC said, “We are extremely please with the quantity and quality of the cars that have applied to be part of the event.”
Over 50 members’ and non-members’ cars, spanning more than 100 years of motoring history will compete for seven categories, People’s Choice and the prestigious Best in Show. To see the classes and to register a vehicle, go to

Duncan Wiltshire, Chairman of the Royal Automobile Club, said, “The brand-new Royal Automobile Club Concours forms an exciting addition to an already illustrious calendar of more than 60 annual motoring events hosted by the Club, one of the oldest of its kind in the world. The Club’s exclusive Woodcote Park estate and clubhouse will throw open its doors for the first time to welcome club members, guests and visitors for a glorious celebration of exquisite cars, industry interviews, live music and fine dining.“
