Although there were only two EHRC Pre-2000 entrants in the 28-30 May 2026 Rallye du Chablais, they brought strong international depth and added real prestige to the Swiss Alpine event based in Aigle and running across the Chablais regions of Vaud and Valais. The standout among the European historic rally entrants was François Delecour, co-driven by Fabrice Gordon in a Peugeot 306 Maxi, who dominated the historic category, securing a commanding victory by taking 13 wins out of the 15 demanding mountain stages contested in the second round of their 2026 FIA EHRC Pre-2000 campaign.

Delecour arrived in Switzerland after a strong EHRC start in Czech Republic in April and backed that form up by winning the historic class at Chablais by more than three minutes over the massed Swiss Rally Championship opposition. His only EHRC rival, Daniel Alonso in a Ford Escort WRC navigated by Alejandro López, dropped out after SS 12. Behind Delecour, a trio of Swiss- driven BMW M3 E30s, headed by Julien Camandona and Mélanie Crettaz, occupied the next three spots.
The enduring Delecour, who tackled the Swiss event just two days after completing a 1,000km cycling race through the Corsican mountains, gave a positive assessment of the weekend, “This rally, with its fast, winding, and highly uneven stages, allowed the 306 Maxi to fully demonstrate its potential. The car was flawless in terms of both reliability and setup. With the correct tyre choice, we were able to enjoy ourselves, entertain the public, and maximize our result.”
It is a well-deserved reward for the Reggio Emilia-based team founded by Andrea “ZIPPO” Zivian, reflecting the extensive development and investment dedicated to the ground-up rebuild of the legendary French kit car. “This project has been engaging us for over three years and presented numerous complex technical challenges. However, when objectives are met, the hard work is forgotten and only the satisfaction remains. For a true enthusiast like myself,” ZIPPO continued, “bringing together my favourite car, its legendary driver, and many technical partners from that era on a major podium is a dream come true. Now we must focus on preparing thoroughly for the upcoming rounds of the European Championship, which will undoubtedly be highly competitive.”
