The Royal Automobile Club is on its annual hunt for the best of the best of Britain’s historic motoring and motorsport world, as nominations open for the 2026 edition of the Club’s annual Historic Awards. Nominations are made via the Awards’ website royalautomobileclubhistoricawards.co.uk. They are open now and close on 23 September. The winners will be revealed at a gala evening in the RACs Pall Mall clubhouse on 19 November, an annual celebration which has been on the historic motoring calendar since 2019.
The Club will also announce the winner of its Lifetime Achievement award. The only award not open to nominations, and not judged by the jury, the selection of recipient lies entirely in the Club’s domain. The latest in an illustrious list of recipients was the legendary motorcycle champion Sammy Miller
The Awards’ diverse categories celebrate individuals, organisations, journalism, events, achievements and restorations. For 2026 the Club has introduced a new category – Motoring Art – reflecting the Club’s commitment to the annual Art of Motoring exhibition that it hosts as one of the highlights of London Motor Week each year.
Another category, previously restricted to museums and permanent vehicle collections, has been broadened to include smaller displays and temporary exhibits that, in the judges’ opinion, make great efforts to connect with a wide audience.
Royal Automobile Club Chairman, Duncan Wiltshire, said, “There’s never been a better time to celebrate success, so I encourage everyone who’s involved in this vibrant and exciting industry to start nominating!”
