New for the Historic Tour and the French Championships is the Renault Classic Trophy, which becomes a French Historic Championship qualifying series. Until now, the Formula Renaults ran within the F3 Classic grid which has become the F3 Interseries in collaboration with the HSCC and is no longer part of the Historic Tour.

The Formula Renault Historic & Classic will include all Renault Formula cars that have participated in official competitions before 31.12.2009 in the following category division:
Category A: Formula Renault Historic: All Formula Renault cars built and having participated in official races before 31.12.1994 (in all their National, European, Turbo, Atmo versions, etc.)
Category B: Formula Renault Classic: All Formula Renault cars built and having participated in official races after 31.12.1994 and before 31.12.2009 (in all their 1.6l, 2.0l etc. versions).
Category C: Guest formulas: These are single-seaters with performance similar to those of category A (example: Formula Ford 2000, Formula Super V, F3, F3 1600cc, F3 1000cc, etc.).
The first two races of the new series took place at the Historic Tour meeting at Dijon in early April, with both races won overall by Alain Girardet, (pictured below in his Tatuus) running in the Classic Category. Pierre Boite took the Historic Category both times in a Martini MK54 Turbo.
