Big changes are afoot in the Motor Racing Legends organisation with the new owner, Shaun Lynn (see page 30 this issue to read our interview with him) and CEO Pierre-Antoine Lecoutour convinced that they can increase the enjoyment for owner-drivers and amateurs by tightening up the regulations and enforcement of eligibility, using rev limiters to increase the life of engines and other components, thereby cutting costs, and introducing time penalties for those who hire pro drivers in two-driver races. The new rule will be that the car owner must start the race.

Big news is that U2TC will be back as a standalone grid, with races at Donington Historic Festival (2-4 May), Snetterton Classic (27-29 June), Navarra (9 October) and Silverstone GP (18-19 October), with test days available before each meeting.
In the new spirit of reining in the development of the cars, rev-limiters and pro penalties will also apply, for this and for the other MRL grids in general. The team has published an ambitious seven-event calendar (see our calendar section) that will also include the new GT3 Category that ran for the first time at the end of the season last year.
“We will publish specific technical regs for a lot of cars, but it will be a work in progress, and we want to use 2025 as a transition year to discuss with preparers and owners about all the technical regs,” said Pierre-Antoine Lecoutour. Watch this space for further MRL news…
