Gregor Fisken and Chris Ward won the Royal Automobile Club Historic Tourist Trophy race at Silverstone in one of their first outings in AC Cobra CSX 2021, known as the ‘Junkyard Dog’. Bought new from Shelby American on October 1, 1962 by AC Cars, and retailed by Shelby to its first owner, CSX 2021 spent most of its life close to home in California where it regularly raced at local events and at Shelby events. One owner, who acquired the car in the 1990s, took it down to bare metal, as Shelby had done with CSX 2000, and the car acquired the ‘Junkyard Dog’ moniker. In 2008 the car was retired from racing by its then owner and repainted red as original, and a correctly-numbered original 260 short block installed with correct early-style Weber side draft carbs. It was imported and UK registered last year, still with the Junkyard Dog motive on its tail.
