In late 2023 competitors in the gruelling Le Jog event covered1500 miles (2400kms) from the southernmost tip of the UK to its most northern in 75 hours in some of the most difficult weather conditions ever experienced on the event. The 44-car field was decimated, with just 27 making it to the end. Of those, just four Gold Medals were awarded, as a combination of mechanical difficulties, driving incidents and fatigue spoiled the runs of most of the crews.
After that it was decided to give the event a year off, but HERO/ERA has now announced the return of Le Jog for 2025. After consulting with competitors, who voted overwhelmingly to preserve the tough endurance elements, organisers have decided to make some “little tweaks, not wholesale changes” to the event. These will mostly revolve around more flexibility in the timing, leaving a little more time for crews to prepare per-event and a little more rest time during the event. There will also be changes to the seeding of the cars to avoid experienced crews being held up by the less experienced.
In 2025 the event will run in its usual December slot (6-9 December 2025), but from 2027, the date will change to January to ease the November-December calendar congestion. Entries for the 2025 event are now open at www.hero-era.com.
