Determined to bring the Klausenrennen Revival event back after it was run five times from 1993-2006 and last revived in 2013, Swiss historic motor sport enthusiasts, Christian Walti and Alexander Roosdorp, planned to run the Klausenrennen again in September 2026. However, the event has now been postponed until 24-26 September, 2027, a date for which new applications to the cantonal governments of Glarus and Uri Have been submitted.
Sometimes referred to as the Nordschleife of hillclimbs, the awesome Linthal– Klausenpasshöhe route is some 21.5kms in length, with a difference in altitude 1,260 metres and 136 curves and is based on the original races from the pre-war era. Planned as a biennial event that will become a firm fixture on the calendar, with regularity, race and demonstration categories, it is open to 250 cars and 150 motorbikes, sidecars and three-wheelers built up to 1949, with special categories for younger vehicles.
“The enthusiastic response from the classic car community has been particularly encouraging,” said Roosdorp. “Numerous drivers from Switzerland and abroad have already expressed their firm intention to take part in the Revival,” he added. As some of them also want to support the event with a personal financial contribution, the Klausenrennen Association recently launched a supporters’ club. New members are very welcome.
