Under the guidance of President Chris Ward, who took over the post from David Hinton in January, Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) has announced one of the most ambitious schedules in its nearly 50-year history for 2025. The calendar for HSR sprint and endurance race series and championships has been expanded to seven race weekends, with, among other highlights, the new HSR Classic Endurance Championship. A new Classic 10 Hour at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta will join the existing tribute races at Daytona, Sebring and Watkins Glen in next year’s four-event Endurance Championship.
Owned by IMSA, HSR has realigned its schedule so that half of the HSR Classic Endurance races – the HSR Classic Sebring 12 Hour and the HSR Classic 6 Hour at The Glen – run on the weekend preceding the legendary sports car races to which they pay tribute. Thus, the HSR Classic Sebring 12 Hour, which has annually wrapped up the calendar in December, now makes a major move to March at Sebring International Raceway to become the new season-opening event on 7-9 March, one week before the 73rd Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring IMSA race. The HSR Classic 6 Hour in turn sets the stage on 12-14 June for the following weekend’s IMSA Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.
Best known amongst European competitors for two late season race meetings, HSR has announced dates for the Classic Daytona 24 Hour, which runs for the 11th time next year on 5-9 November, while a more than familiar venue closes the season a month later when the popular Pistons and Props event takes place at Sebring on 5-7 December, continuing HSR’s established tradition of ending and starting the season at Sebring International Raceway.
