Julius Thurgood and his HRDC have always held a special place at Goodwood and, as 2027’s Goodwood Revival will feature pre-1960 Touring Cars racing in the St. Mary’s Trophy, he says now would be a good time to get your car seen out and about. Julius has decided give these evocative Touring Cars some extra exposure with the Les Leston Trophy, a class that runs within the HRDC Top Hat series. “Austin A30, Studebaker, Borgward Isabella, Farina A40, Standard 8, Riley 1.5, Wolseley 1500, Vanguard, Sunbeam Rapier, Hillman Minx, MG Magnette, Peugeot 203, Volvo or Austin Metropolitan – we want to see it out racing in HRDC ‘Top Hat,’” said Julius.

“As ever, the Leston Family have generously allowed the HRDC to continue using the Leston name as the class title for these cars. As partners of the HRDC in this initiative, Nick, Ollie and Harry Leston will be in attendance both on track with their family Riley 1.5 as well as in the HRDC paddock displaying their incredible range of British manufactured Les Leston steering wheels.” Races were run this year at Donington and Brands Hatch, with the next race scheduled on 11-13 September at the Castle Combe Autumn Classic, followed by a season finale on the Silverstone GP circuit at the MRL Silverstone GP on 17-18 October.
