All in the Family
The drivers and teams of the GT & Sports Car Cup convened for their annual Awards presentation lunch at The Royal Automobile Club Pall Mall on 6 December where class prizes and numerous special trophies were handed out. The main prize went to Simon King and William Plant for their overall series win, the pair also winning the GT2 class and the watches from series sponsor Baltic Watches. Amongst the special awards were the Ladies’ Cup, that went to Alice Locke, the Royal Automobile Club Family Award that went to Brian and Barbera Lambert, the HP Tyre award that went to John Clark driving a Jaguar E-type and the ‘Spirit of the Series” award that went to the father and daughter team of Richard and Alice Lock, who drove a Mini together with Matt Green and won the TC1 class.

Rob Newall and son of series organisers Vanessa and Flavien, Oliver Marçais drove a Jaguar XK 120 to win the GT3 class, while another family pairing, Chris Chiles Senior and Junior, took the GT4 class with their AC Cobra. The prototype classes were headed by Doug Muirhead and Jeremy Welch (Lotus XI SP1), and Venessa’s brother,
Nick Finburgh and Ollie Crosthwaite (Cooper Monaco T49), who took SP2 class honours.
The GT & Sports Car Cup, for pre-’66 GT and Touring cars and pre-1963 prototypes enters its 20th season this year with a four-race series.
