The vintage-only Flying Scotsman Rally has an enviable reputation in Europe as the premier rally for pre-1948 cars. A major part of the attraction is that it is set in the Highlands of Scotland using remote scenic roads and it starts and finishes at the world-renowned Gleneagles Hotel, with all the tradition that the venue offers, attracting crews from as far away as Australia, New Zealand and the USA to steep themselves in the nostalgia of a bygone era while exercising their vintage cars. The passion for the sometimes-exotic old machines entered is shared by many Europeans, including Belgians, Dutch, French, Germans, Spanish, and Scandinavians, who assert that there is ‘nothing like it in Europe.’

With entries already in from a variety of European countries for the 23-26 April event, the Flying Scotsman is on course to reach full entry before December.
Next year the 600-mile route will head north through the Cairngorms and Aberdeen, then onwards to Inverness. It will sample some of the best remote highland lanes and enjoy traditional Scottish hospitality before looping back to Gleneagles for a champagne finish and grand awards dinner.
Amongst those already entered are past winners former McLaren F1 Team Manager and prolific historic rallyist, Alistair Caldwell, who won the Scotsman in 2011 in a 1938 Alfa Romeo 6C, and Bentley specialist William Medcalf of Vintage Bentley who won in 2014, 2015, 2022 and 2025 in his Supersports Bentley, the most successful marque and William the driver with the most wins on the event to date. Paul Crosby and Ali Procter, who won in 2017 and 2023 in their potent 1939 MG TB Supercharged will be back, along with 2024 winner Paul Dyas in his 1937 Bentley Derby Special navigated by Martyn Taylor.
