For its 54th edition on 18-20 September, the Circuit des Remparts d’Angoulême continues its tradition of showcasing a particular marque or chapter in automotive history, this year by celebrating Lorraine-Dietrich. One hundred years ago in 1926, this prestigious French automobile manufacturer notably achieved the first-ever 1-2-3 victory in the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. With support from the Lorraine- Dietrich Club and the National Automobile Museum of Mulhouse, there will be some 15 vehicles from the manufacturer on display, including the cars that won the Le Mans race in 1925 and 1926. In addition, the Angoulême Museum will host an exhibition dedicated to the brand starting September 17, highlighting its strong impact during the early years of the famous endurance race.

Lorraine-Dietrich entered the Le Mans race from its very first edition in 1923, finishing in 8th and 19th positions. Beaten by Bentley in 1924 by just one lap, Lorraine-Dietrich still secured 2nd and 3rd places. These encouraging performances led to two victories in the following two years, including the famous 1-2-3 victory in 1926.
