This year’s Beforty rally, the 15th, wove its way through Hampshire and the New Forest, with a stop at Vintage Bentley for some tea, Walter Heale for fish and chips, and Goodwood for some Fiskens fizz on the weekend of 11-12 April. For those under the age of 40 in under 1940s cars, it takes place in different countries each year.

Rhiannon Hughes-Boatman of Fiskens brought back these photos and remarked, “The rally is a genius premise and absolutely as much fun as it sounds. More than 50 pre-war cars and well over a hundred young people came together to enjoy a weekend in Hampshire and the New Forest.

Come Saturday night, the music might have been blaring from the dancefloor, but the majority of the participants were huddled around an Austin Seven, dressed in their “Best of British” costumes, beer in one hand and tools in the other. The engine was completely removed and safely placed on the hotel bellman’s trolley whilst they changed the clutch.

It is events like these that are so important in bolstering this small but mighty community of enthusiasts and the more exposure we can bring to young people enjoying old cars, the bigger this community can grow!”
