We have received a press release telling us that a “new major historic race organiser, Authentic Racing” will be up and running starting in 2027. The release goes on to say that only authentic cars with identifiable history will be allowed on the grids.

There will be grids, for single seaters, as well as GT and touring cars, with pre-’63, pre-’66 and pre-’73 GT grids; prototype grids for pre-’66 and pre-’73 and a similar range of touring car races, each period on separate grids. Races for Formula 2 and 3, as well as a pre-war series will also be part of a full programme at each race meeting.

Backed by a major sponsor, who wants to see “real historic cars in real races,” entry fees will either be free or kept to a minimum and “Goodwood style” hospitality will be complimentary. They say they have a five-event calendar scheduled for 2027 with appropriate contracts signed with the circuits. Races will be in the UK, France and Italy in the first season, with an intended expansion in 2028.

Scouts were out last season and will continue to attend race meetings in 2026 looking for suitable cars to invite. Already they have held a secret test day to which selected cars were invited so that organisers could see them in action close up. They will continue to run a series of these test days throughout the season. Organisers say, “If you are running a genuine historic car this season you may be approached to join the only racing series exclusively for historic cars. Authentic Racing – No replicas, no recreations, just real racing in real cars from days gone by.”

The next test day is schcduled for 1 April.
