The ASAVÉ Challenge 65 and 76 made a return to Magny-Cours on 14-16 May for their second rounds of the season. The racing was enlivened by on-again-off-again rain from which the Minis in the 65 race were hoping to profit. Alas it was the bigger guns and the protypes that prevailed, with Felix and Christian Godard taking the spoils in race 1 in their Cooper T39 ahead of Marc Carlin and Eric Libreton, who had a race against time to repair a mechanical issue in their AC Cobra between practice and race. The second race was also V8 dominated. Behind the winning TVR Griffith of Didier Gruau came the Cobra and the Lotus Elan of Charles and Damien Sionneau. The Minis still had a good time, with a notable battle between Fabrice Quesnel and Dominique Jouvin animating race two where they finished in fifth and sixth places respectively.

In the Plateau ’76, the first race was dominated by an intense battle between the Chevrolet Camaro of Pascal Franchinetti and the Ford Escort of Olivier Dusailly, which was eventually decided in favour of the Escort. Sadly, the duel was not to continue in race 2, as Dusailly retired on lap 3 promoting Fabien Leplattenier’s Porsche 911SC, third in race one, to second in race two.
