In late April press and event ticket holders received the following letter from the organisers of the Velocity Invitational event that was scheduled to take place 6-8 June at Sonoma Raceway, California without further explanation:
We have made the difficult decision to postpone the 2025 Velocity Invitational to 2026 due to current economic conditions impacting multiple elements of the event.
Jeff O’Neill, our founder, expressed the reasoning behind the decision: “To deliver the extraordinary experience our attendees and participants expect, we believe postponing the event is the right decision. We created Velocity Invitational to support enthusiastic racers and collectors and showcase the best automotive technology from past to future. That’s been our mission since day one and we will not waver.”
We promise that Velocity Invitational will return bigger, better, and stronger. In the meantime, please stay tuned – we’ll be announcing other exciting ways that the Velocity team will continue to bring the best of car culture to you throughout 2025 and 2026.
Sources close to O’Neill say he has invested considerable sums in the event and was not expecting it to make a profit immediately. His aim is to create a top-class event with the best cars and where everyone who attends feels like a VIP. However, the current economic uncertainties under the Trump administration have made him reluctant to continue to invest at the moment.
